Hi, I am Constance Croom. I always say, I really don’t ever remember not knowing how to sew because my aunt, mother and grandmother were sewing something all the time.
I have a certificate in custom alteration tailoring from Szalay’s European Custom Tailoring, who is a master tailor. I learned a lot from him and he helped to advance my skills. I knew how to sew and had the right concepts but the wrong method.
Owning a business is something I’ve always wanted and for many years worked from home. In July of 2016, I was given an opportunity to open a custom alterations shop downtown Grand Rapids in an incubator space for two years.
I have taught; learn your sewing machine basics, how to use your included accessories, reading your pattern envelope/instruction sheet, sewing and embroidering classes and tailoring techniques. What I focus most on is skill building because my goal is for you not to need me.
Come gain the knowledge you need to start your journey to sewing or learn new skills in this 16 week course. 2nd semester will be student choice providing 1st semester concepts have been mastered.
